David
Trenow started his working life as a civil engineer and after seven
years gave it up to become a painter and sculptor. He trained at
Hornsey College of Arts and Crafts during the time of the student
troubles. He has lectured and taught art at various colleges and
schools in East Anglia and was for thirty years Head of Art at Colchester
Royal Grammar School.
He has also been a moderator for both GCSE and A Level Art for the
Midland Examining Board and OCR.
He works in a wide variety of mediums including paint of most forms,
stained glass and sculpture in wood, stone, cast metals, cold cast
bronze, papier mache and found objects.
He has work in collections both in the UK and abroad and has been
commissioned to produce a sculpture for Nottinghamshire County Council
as well as murals, stained glass windows and town signs for local
colleges and councils and portraits of local families.
His work reflects his great interest in the mythology of England
in which he is also lecturing, as well as the landscapes of Essex
and Suffolk - particularly Walberswick which he has visited each
summer for the past 20 years and the human figure.
